Tonight sees me at home looking after Deborah.  Authrine has gone on a women’s retreat and Abigail is staying for a while with her Nan, Aunt, Uncle and brand new cousin.  So it’s just Deborah and I that see in the Sabbath.  For more on my own personal perspective to Sabbath it will be well worth you checking this account and a recent update.

I enjoy the restful aspect of Sabbath and it gives a chance for Deborah and I to reason and enjoy some good Bible material together.  A very useful resource for this is the different cartoons that have come out to help depict biblical truths in a format appealing to younger people.  It still appeals to me and I’m not so young, but then I’ve always been a sucker for a good cartoon!

This evening’s delight was Superbook’s look at King Solomon.  A funny thing happened when I heard that the boy in there – named Christopher appropriately enough – wanted to be a super-brain so he could win quizzes and get lots of money.  Maybe I’m hearing a prophetic word as to where my future lies!

It was good watching this with Deborah and seeing how Solomon asked God for wisdom to be able to govern.  Centuries later with the state our world is in that same lesson applies today that we need God’s wisdom to govern.  It doesn’t have to be a people either, as we’re about to start a new quarterly series looking at Stewardship the principle applies to all areas of our existence that to manage life well we need the wisdom of God.

As we finished and prayed together, Deborah and I asked God for the wisdom and the understanding to deal with day-to-day living and not just for us, but for all those called by God to follow Him.  We hope that will be your prayer too.  In the meantime enjoy this two part YouTube series excusing the video quality in places.

For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
